No. [It's true, he wasn't. But...] What happened was my crew and Luffy burst into Marineford to get me out. Luffy got the sea stone cuffs off of me, so we were going to escape. But...

[He grits his teeth, and takes a deep breath.] Akainu has power over magma because of his Devil Fruit, and he tried to take Luffy out with it. I wasn't going to let that happen.
