three // [action]

[The lack of Zoro may have only been felt by a select few, but the angry looking child walking around the village proper should be of some interest to anyone just kind of hanging around. Clad in a slightly raggy outfit, leaves sticking out of his hair, he doesn't look like he's had a proper bath in days. But don't worry, folks, moldy green is his natural hair color. Strapped to his back is a familiar white katana; on his face: an equally familiar dark scowl.

If he looks a bit twitchy, forgive him. He's been hiding out in the forest and Luceti hasn't been very kind to him these last few days. He'll just be wandering around town, peering curiously through shop windows and trying to pretend he wasn't lost.

At some point in the day, he's gonna find that he's hungry enough to go begging demanding food at Seventh Heaven or wherever Sanji is at the moment orz. Maybe they'll let him chop wood in exchange for a meal. Hmm, hmm.]

Uh, yeah... I guess so. I gotta fight everyone to get better anyway so it's common sense that I'll be the best when I beat 'em all. If there's some guy saying he's the best and everyone agrees, that just makes it easier.

Besides, if others have a problem with me saying I'm the best, I'll just have to beat them too. It's easy as long as I don't lose to anyone.
fierybluebird: [Marco arching an eyebrow leaning on an arm with blue background] (Is that so?)

[personal profile] fierybluebird 2012-10-04 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Arches an eyebrow.] Everyone loses sometimes, kid. Even the world's best. It's not losing that's the problem, it's making sure you come back with a vengeance.

[Waves a hand.] But either way, how will you find them all? All those world's toughest swordsmen.
zorichan: (tsun tsun)

[personal profile] zorichan 2012-10-04 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I won't! [At least, not anymore. Because if he loses, she loses, and that thought was a little hard to swallow. Kuina never lost to anyone...

He stops to consider Marco's question.]
I'll get a boat and sail around the world. Or I'll walk. If they're any good I'll hear about it, right?
fierybluebird: (uncertain)

[personal profile] fierybluebird 2012-10-04 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's just...]

[He can't.]

[This kid has no idea how big the world is.]

[Marco's not even sure if he should admire the blunt determination or facepalm a hundred times over.]

[No no, maybe he's just not giving him enough credit.]

Okay, and what if they have friends who aren't swordsmen? Like if you wanted to mess with Vista and say I decided to interfere? And if you're going to be sailing and swordfighting, who's going to do the cooking? Or find the names of the strongest people and where they are?

Then I'll just have to beat you too. [Zoro looks at Marco haughtily because he kind of failed his life skills and self-preservation check.] But if they were any kinda swordsman, they'd face me man-to-man. Hiding behind your friends is dumb.

[But as for those other things. He clasps his hands behind his head and really thinks.] I'd figure it out somehow. I'll learn how to sail, and I can already cook for myself! [Badly.] If I ask enough people, they can give me directions and stuff.
fierybluebird: (wink wink nudge nudge)

[personal profile] fierybluebird 2012-10-05 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Laughs.] Vista doesn't hide behind us. But I have a bad habit of being very overprotective of my family. [At least he can admit it?]

You're missing the big picture matey. In a crew everyone relies on each other and that's our best strength. Cooks get to cook more because someone is driving, and because they're cooking, someone else can focus just on sails. And because someone else is navigating, cooking, sailing, and doing all the trading that needs done, the swordsmen get to focus just on becoming the best swordsmen they can be.

Even if you can do all those things; cooking, sailing, handling charts, talking to people, it takes time that you could have been using just for sword things.

Right now, you're in training, right? Do you do all the cooking, swabbing decks, getting money to pay teachers and buy food, or does someone else help on those things so you can focus on learning?

I fish sometimes when I get hungry. [But, yeah, childish pride aside he's starting to get the picture. Marco actually makes a good point, and the more Zoro thinks about it the more appealing it sounds. There was just one problem...]

But you're... pirates. [He says it like that little inflection should explain it all. And to him, it does. Pirates were loud, black-hearted criminals. Where was the honor there? He doesn't say it, though, because he's not really sure how to express that kind of sentiment to a grown up, let alone to an actual pirate.]
fierybluebird: (lazily mocking you)

[personal profile] fierybluebird 2012-10-05 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't say you join my crew, brat. We've got enough swordsmen and you have to earn that right. [Which you haven't. And won't. GTFO. You're not wanted. In a game of Davy Back, he's not taking you. ALTHOUGH in Luceti he does need a swordsman; as was evidenced by his earlier point about missing Vista for such things, but yeah, no. Still not taking you. Unless Zoro turns out to actually be part marimo, then he would. For the novelty of it.]

I said you join the Straw Hat crew. Meet them before you knock them, eh?
zorichan: (what do you mean I ran here for nothing)

[personal profile] zorichan 2012-10-05 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
They're still pirates! [That fact actually bothers him enough that Marco's solid rejection of his (unwanted) swordsman status on the Whitebeard crew just flies over his head. Also it's illegal to own marimo now, Marco. But I guess that's where your pirate status comes in handy. :|a]

What'd you say my captain's name was, again? [Not that he completely believes you but, eh. The fight's gone out of him. That's what too much thinking does to him sometimes.]
fierybluebird: (distant skies)

[personal profile] fierybluebird 2012-10-05 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Too many people wanted pet mini-Zoros. But yes, pirate = lawbreaker. He'll just con Jinbei into helping him avoid authorities on this matter.]

Straw Hat Luffy.

He's going to be the next pirate king.

Look, I used to be a little like you on that, believe it or not. I didn't think I needed anyone else and I didn't have a good reason to be a pirate when most of them are idiots. My captain changed that. He changed the world for me. I don't know if that's the same for you, but from what I remember you're pretty much Luffy's first mate? And that tends to be the case for us first crew members.

Meet your crew before you write them off. They've even impressed me, and that's not easy, so they might take you by surprise, eh. If nothing else, I know they've helped you get closer to your goal. That's the kind of crew they are.
zorichan: (that heavy feeling)

[personal profile] zorichan 2012-10-05 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[... wow, what a dumb name.

But, whew, Marco. Man, that was... that was actually kind of intense. Surprisingly, and despite his usual attitude, Zoro isn't the kind of kid to write off his elder's words. Especially when they were delivered with such... passion.

So, ok. Maybe there was something to this whole pirate thing. Something he needs to hear later on that he won't get if/when it happens you're going to be tied to a post and he's going to blackmail you so have fun with that, kid. That's... fine. Right?

Excuse him, Marco. He's gonna sink into a deep contemplative silence now. He's got some future life choices he needs to re-think.]
fierybluebird: (fond grin)

[personal profile] fierybluebird 2012-10-05 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Gives him a moment. See? Smart kids all over Luceti. At least Zoro is letting it all sink in. Which is genuinely more than Marco can say for most of his own damn brothers. And they're adults! Also, poor Zoro. Marco KNOWS he lucked out with the best damn captain ever.]

In the meanwhile would you like a cookie or something?
zorichan: (tsun tsun)

i am embarrassed by how long this took

[personal profile] zorichan 2012-10-07 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shoots Marco a dirty look. Opens his mouth to say something rude. Closes his mouth.]

... what kind? [:Ia]
fierybluebird: (cool breeze)

PSSSH XDDD don't be s'fine :P

[personal profile] fierybluebird 2012-10-07 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Whatever kind you want from the bakery. My treat.

[Because you know... it's free. :|]
zorichan: (tsun tsun)

[personal profile] zorichan 2012-10-10 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sigh.]

Fine. [Lead the way, weird dude!]
fierybluebird: (fond grin)

[personal profile] fierybluebird 2012-10-11 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
[He's the weird one? He's not the one sighing about cookies man. And he gestures in, making sure Zoro doesn't get too lost. It's like he knows. Actually Marco doesn't know, he just gets a little Mama Bird-like sometimes. It drives his crew nuts.]

I'm thinking I want one with nuts.

[Insert puns here.]
